As the environment recovers from the destructive force of fire on the Cave Gulch in Helena, Montana, artist Suzy Holt has recorded the beauty of nature’s resiliency through the application of small format photography. In thinking about the process of recording this natural progression, the artist states “My sense of loss was transformed into a sense of wonder and healing.” The scale of the photographs is ironic when viewed in contrast with the vastness of the forest they represent. The photographs invite the viewer into an intimate exploration of nature’s “revelations.” -- Bob Durden, Curator, Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art
